Dr Tom Marshall OBE, MB, ChB, Dip Obst, FRNZCGP.

Dr Tom Marshall has been a general practitioner in Mount Eden, Auckland since September 1966. He is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Auckland. He has been the School Medical Officer at Dilworth School since 1969 and from 1972 until 1996 he worked as a Medical Officer in the hospice wards at the Mercy Hospice. He delivered 2,000 babies, until retiring from obstetrics, in 1990.


He is a Fellow of the NZMA and a Fellow of the RNZCGP. In 2002, he was President of the NZMA.
He has been chairman of the board of directors of ProCare Health Limited, since its establishment, in 1995 and is kaumatua of the ProCare Maori Advisory Committee.

In addition, he is a member of the Controlling Executive of the Auckland Division of the New Zealand Cancer Society and a member of the Editorial Board of the University of Auckland Business Review.
A keen yachtsman, in 1975 he was Team Doctor to the New Zealand Admirals’ Cup team at Cowes, Isle of Wight.

In 1984, he was President of the Auckland Medico-Legal Society.


In 1996 he was awarded the OBE for services to medicine and to the community.
